Connected Math Project

In my district, we use a math program called Connected Math Project (CMP). It is a reform math series that is often met with skepticism and concerns by parents. There are many times througout the school year where I receive phone calls expressing these concerns. Parents often ask me about CMP during Parent/Teacher Conferences. It would be great to have a place to show them the positive reinforcement they need in regards to the program. Hopefully, this will help ease some of those concerns and provide some resources for them to explore in support of Connected Math Project.

This blog sounds like a great idea; I think it will be very helpful for parents to have easy access from your blog to information about Connected Math. Happy Blogging, Mrs. Flood! :)

Hey Amanda, your first blog ever and it's great! I understand the concern you talk about, as we faced those problems using Everyday Math in Tosa. This is a super resource for your parents. Good Work!

I'm curious what your parent's concerns are. What is it about this program that they are worried about?
Dealing with parents is one of the most challenging parts of being a teacher for me. They seem to be either adversarial, totally disinterested, or really supportive. This last category is sometimes a small group. Nice looking blog!

Very good idea Amanda. I think the more ways parents (as well as other uninformed people) can be informed the less stress it will have on you in terms of parental contacts and questions. If you don't hear complaints, you must be doing something right. "No news is good news!"
